We’re back with lessons from quarantine
Hi Friends-
It’s been a while and we’ve missed you! You’re likely wondering what we’ve been up to. So let us catch you up.
Between the pandemic, the racial injustices tearing at the fabric of our society and the daily grind of work and life we’ve both been on a rollercoaster of physical, mental and emotional experiences. So we took an intentional break from Lacuna to take time to process and get grounded in what’s really important to us so we can better serve and connect with you. Here are a few lessons that we have received during this time:
Life is for living….fully
As we reflect on the future and life after COVID we’ve had to ask ourselves, “What choices do we need to make to live a life brimming with meaning, purpose and passion?”
This year, we’ve seen our friends and loved ones experience personal, professional and financial hardship. Many of those we care deeply for have courageously battled COVID, cancer and a myriad of other issues. It has been difficult to watch our world struggle to coalesce from the pandemic and to see those efforts undone amidst our collective trauma. And yet, despite all the events and reasons that tell us otherwise, we have found hope in the small wonders and joys we experience daily. From birth announcements to the delicate rekindling of old friendships- somehow the hurt is diminished moment by moment.
There have been both wins and losses and this challenging reality has been an important reminder that while life offers us no guarantees it still offers us the choice to live fully.
Check in…she needs you
When Lacuna first went live, we hadn’t yet felt the full impact of life behind our four walls. We were filled with endless energy, optimism and motivation. As the months bore on and life became a version of normal that was foreign and confusing, we faced new challenges and new demands that we weren’t fully prepared for. How do we manage loneliness or tolerate another human being for 24 hours a day? How does one go grocery shopping without being crippled by the fear of catching a deadly virus? Should one (Ahem…Melody) attempt to do their own waxing without an ambulance on standby?
Somehow we found the courage (and YouTube videos) to figure it out. But we could only do that after checking in with ourselves. We tuned into our feelings, our needs, and our fears to find the strength we needed to push through. We also learned to be patient; our energy and passion soon returned but only after we let go of disappointment and embraced self-compassion.
Lacuna is alive and well
Lacuna is a beautiful journey made up of our community’s collective experiences, lessons and pathways. It grows and expands and just like you it is full of endless possibility and potential. We are committed to bringing you fresh content, interesting insights and solutions that will challenge you to live fully and be your best.
We’re excited for what is next and invite you to join us in making Lacuna something we can all be proud of.
